Fire resistance of fire bulkhead / conveyor system closures
The fire resistance of a fire bulkhead is exactly the same as the fire resistance of a fire gate that has been used in a transport locking system. The choice of gate depends on the specifics of the building, the amount of space and the required fire resistance. The most common choices are rolling, sliding or vertical fire gates.
Fire resistance classes

Properties of fire bulkheads
Fire bulkheads are a fire protection system used in transport openings. They are a barrier separating the danger zone from other parts of the building.
In the event of a fire, the bulkhead stops fire and smoke in the danger zone, preventing it from spreading to other rooms. Thanks to this, people have time to evacuate safely, and firefighters can more easily reach the source of the fire and extinguish it, minimizing material losses.
Advantages of fire bulkheads:
- individual solution
- high quality
- aesthetics
- wide range of products
Construction of a fire bulkhead / closure of transport systems
Fire bulkheads are made of: a fire gate and automation. The type of fire gate is selected based on the design, the specifics of the building and the customer's requirements. Its construction and size depend on the transport system and the availability of space around the opening.
Automation is a set of devices that work perfectly together. Control is carried out by a set of sensors ensuring constant control of the possibility of effective closing of the gate and the required delay necessary to leave the transport container from the light of the fire partition.

How a fire bulkhead works
The fire-rated bulkheads are kept open at all times by means of an electric drive. When a fire occurs, the control panel transmits a signal to the operator and the gate is lowered or closed.
The gate control is connected to the automatic control of the transport line. Integration of systems is very important, because in the event of an emergency, it is necessary to fully synchronize the operation of the fire gate with the transport system, which in the event of an alarm should enable tight closing of the gate and separate the fire zone from adjacent rooms.
Sensors installed on the conveyor line, if necessary, accelerate, slow down or reverse the moved products, so that the gate light remains empty.
Application of transport system closure
Thanks to their function, fire bulkheads effectively reduce material losses and increase safety inside buildings. They are used wherever transport systems move through walls (separating fire zones) from one room to another.
They can most often be found in production halls, warehouses, logistics centers or airports.
